How did this patient hear about Trevecca Center? Physician Referral for the

Mr. Ricky S Sr, a decorated Army veteran of 15 years, came to us at Trevecca Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on Valentine’s Day from the VA. He was hospitalized for a fall that he sustained due to his diagnosis of Tachyarrhythmia, a heart rhythm disorder characterized by an abnormally fast heart rate. Mr. S was having an episode due to tachyarrhythmia and went to take a seat on the couch, but he misjudged the spacing between him and the seat itself and fell to the floor. He then suffered some bruising and a sprain to his left knee.

Upon admission, Ricky was greeted by Diamond, our receptionist, Anastasia, who is the admissions nurse, unit manager Marissa, and Director of Concierge, Al Jones.  Mr. S told me the details of what happened and his goals for therapy. He then informed me of the severity of his condition and how doctors want him to become more active to offset the episodes that he experiences. I then informed him of our great therapy team and the results they produce, and I assured him that he would become one very soon, and he did just that.

After speaking with the rest of the IDT, Mr. S met Leisa, his PT, who evaluated him and began a program that shocked him week by week. Being a fairly active and proud man, Mr. Ricky began ambulating in the first week of treatment. Learning how to use a wheelchair was never in his plans, so when he was able to do without, he did just that around week three. By week four, once the swelling had completely subsided, it was time for a final assessment, which granted him a discharge date the following week. Mr. Ricky rolled in on a stretcher and walked out the front door, not only that, but he drove himself home to his residence.

Mr. Ricky appreciated everything Trevecca did for him, from housekeeping to the great therapy team. We wish nothing but great health for Mr. Ricky. he came as a resident and left as a friend.
